MATARIKI KI TE MAUNGA 2024

The Tauhara Collective invites mana whenua, local whänau, kura (schools), partner organisations and the wider hapori (community) to celebrate Matariki this year at Tauhara Manga on Wednesday 3 and Saturday 6 July 2024 at 22 Moutain Road, RD 2 Maunganamu, Taupō.

These events are a part of the launch of Tauhara Ngahau delivered in partnership by the Tauhara Collective. The project aims to restore, reconnect and regenerate the surrounding whenua starting with the restoration of the native korowai (cloak) of Tauhara maunga.

We will start the morning with a whangai te hautapu ceremony at 5.45am led by the Tauhara Collective followed by light refreshments and kai. From 10am, the public planting events begin and we welcome everyone to join us in planting over 6,000 native trees.
